5 Great Electric Bicycle Parts You Must Have

Up to now, I have been making electric bikes for nearly ten years. A few years ago, I created this website as a place to freely share my accumulated knowledge. One of the most frequently asked questions is about recommendations for specific components.

You can think of thousands of options for electric bike accessories, so it’s hard for me to make a detailed list. On the contrary, what I should do is to list the parts of the electric bicycle that I use most often below, and I usually recommend them to others. Some of them I have written full comments, while others I plan to write more.

For this list, I will try to reduce its wordiness and pay more attention to links and images. Moreover, most of the suppliers I know are either in North America or in China. If you don’t live in North America, the Chinese may be more helpful to you. I have bought things in both places. I try to give two examples.

Electric bicycle horn:

I wrote a comment on these corners here. I just want to say that there are some great speakers on electric bicycles, including a 48V horn I like, a similar 36V horn and many 12V speakers.

For all these speakers, you need a button to activate them. This is what I have been using, because it has additional indicator buttons, but any momentary touch button can work.

Bicycle seat:

In fact, most of my saddles were bought locally, but I recently bought this small number and wanted to put it on my wife’s bike. She really liked it.

Electric bicycle bag:

Oh, my god, there are many good e-bike bags on the market. I reviewed the electric bicycle bag for a while, and still like this bag – it is the largest one I have ever used.

The EM3EV package is a classic and respected in the community. There is a pile in my wardrobe, waiting to be used. If you don’t want to wait (or pay) for delivery from China, you can buy bags at Kinaye Motorsports in the United States. There is also a falcon EV bag, which is evaluated very well, but I haven’t used it, so I can’t personally guarantee it.

In the United States, if you want to buy a smaller bag, I am very lucky to buy the Iberian frame bag on Amazon. This bag is cheaper than the Iberian bag, but it is almost the same size, and I find its quality is quite good.

Finally, I made a very small 36V 8.7AH battery to adapt to this excellent seat bag. I wrote the battery operation guide here.

Electric bicycle wattmeter:

The best watt watch in the electric bicycle industry is undoubtedly a cycle analyst designed by the electric bicycle. Ca and can be purchased directly from them.

I almost always use a Cycle Analyst on my bike. Sometimes I use a cheaper wattmeter on a customer’s bike, like this, in case the customer doesn’t want to pay for a real bicycle analyst. It is neither waterproof nor backlit, but it is 10 times cheaper than Cycle Analyst!

I haven’t used it yet, but I plan to test one of them when I have time.

Electric Bicycle Throttles:

My favorite type of throttle is a half twist throttle. I get them here. Sometimes I use full twist throttles, like these. And when I use thumb throttles, I get them here. For most of the medium power ebikes I build though, I don’t need controllers that are as nice as the Lyen and EM3EV controllers. I can get away with something a third of the price. I’ve been quite happy with this controller on some 72V ebikes I’ve built.
