Overmars' suspension from FIFA 22 was officially confirmed by EA Sports in an in-game message that appeared on Wednesday evening.

At the time of writing, Overmars' FUT 22 Icon items were still available for purchase on the FUT 22 transfer market, but their price range has been restricted in order to prevent the item's value from rising. Before these items were removed from FUT 22, Overmars had three FUT 22 Icon items, one of which was 86-rated (Base), one of which was 88-rated (mid), and another which was 90-rated (Prime), all of which were available to purchase.

In the wake of Overmars' departure from Ajax, the club's official website published a statement from the Dutchman.

Overmars expressed his embarrassment in a statement.

I was confronted with reports about my behavior last week, and I was not pleased. As well as how this has been perceived by others. Although I was aware that I was crossing the line with this, I was not aware of it until recently, when it was brought to my attention.
