The trouble is that what that final battle will look like is a total mystery , aside in the names given to WoTLK Gold bosses that players will encounter. Mystery, as it transpires is the theme of patch 9.2. factoring not only into the final battle of the game's coming Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, but also in the design philosophies behind the brand new Zereth Mortis zone. Are they the mysterious First Ones? Was the prisoner trying to accomplish? Where will the story take us in the future? This results in a more significant mystery in the game's community What's next after Shadowlands?

In an interview in recent times with P2Pah, WoW production director Pat Dawson wouldn't say. Usually, by the time an official content patch for an expansion is released players know what the next expansion will be thanks to an earlier announcement and the accompanying cinematic at Blizzard's Annual BlizzCon event. BlizzCon isn't happening this year, likely for a variety of reasons that span from the COVID-19 pandemic to ongoing discrimination and sexual harassment investigations. There are no future expansion announcements that have been announced. There's a huge open question about Patch 9.2 and the end story of Shadowlands story.

For the first time in a long while players will go into the final raid of an expansion without having any idea of what's to come regarding what boss fights will actually happen as well as how the story will unfold.

"People haven't seen the mechanics People haven't been able to see the story," Dawson said when asking if the ending of the new Sepulcher of the First Ones raid would give players solid idea of what next expansion will be. "They aren't sure what's going to occur. It's a great moment. For future stuff, we're always looking for ways to improve things. At the moment, we're most focused on the conclusion of this tale and giving satisfaction of the prisoner."

While a large part of the forthcoming raid has been datamined, combed through, and playtested on by members of the WoW community on the game's public test world the players will be completely green for the raid's three final bosses.

"They haven't been on the PTR yet, and there's no lot of mods written for it, or strategies put into buy WoTLK Classic Gold writing," Dawson said. "People don't know exactly what they'll experience. There's a lot of adventure and exploration to come at the end of this quest."
