Gwadar Cricket Stadium

The Balochistan provincial government and the military forces are making several efforts to promote activities in the area. One major development is the Gwadar Cricket Stadium, which is making rounds on both international and national forums owing to its state-of-the-art infrastructure and scenic views.

The International Cricket Council once referred to the Gwadar Stadium, previously known as the Ishaq Baloch Cricket Stadium, as ‘the most gorgeous’ cricket stadium. This is especially due to the fact that it is nestled in the middle of craggy mountains, and is close to Balochistan's coastline.

One of Gwadar Stadium's most appealing features is its prime position in one of Pakistan's fastest-growing cities. It is close to its key projects that are currently under development. Additionally, it is not far from the junction of Makran Coastal Highway and Sabzi Mandi Road. The seating capacity of this stadium is 34,228.

Several noteworthy spots near the stadium are listed below:

  • Kallag Beach
  • Gwadar Public Park

Gwadar Port City

The fact that Gwadar enjoys all the advantages of a port city is one of the main reasons why it draws both domestic and foreign investment. Pakistan's economic stability is improved by the warm water seaport, which provides a commercial route to several countries.

Real estate developers have also expressed a strong interest, given the city's enormous potential as a hub of future international trade.

Well-paved streets, modern infrastructure, and many other facilities can be found in the port city. The development of urban neighbourhoods inside the city is already being planned by the authorities.

Gwadar City Master Plan

In 2019, the Balochistan government also made the Gwadar Master Plan 2050 available to the public on the website of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA).

Residential and commercial zones have been delineated individually on the revised master plan. Similar to this, specific areas have been set aside for facilities related to entertainment, education, medicine, and sports. Additionally, the plan to make Gwadar a green metropolis has received significant attention. To achieve this, a sizable portion of the city's territory has been set aside for green spaces, which would separate commercial and residential areas.

Developments in Gwadar City

The following significant citywide projects are still in process:

  • Construction of the Gwadar smart city using contemporary architecture
  • Restoration of sports facilities from the Omani era
  • New green belt
  • 6-km sewerage line
  • Modern road infrastructure
  • The East-Bay Expressway, which will enable efficient traffic movement on the main thoroughfare of the Gwadar port
  • A contemporary monument will be built at Mala Fazal Chowk to draw tourists
  • Improvements to the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital and the construction of the Gwadar International Airport
  • Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute

Modern Infrastructure in Gwadar Port City

The construction of road networks has received considerable attention in the master plan for Gwadar. The concept also includes water and sewage lines. A desalination facility will cost about $114 million to build, and will supply the main metropolis with potable water.

The $140 million Gwadar East Bay Expressway will be built to link Gwadar Port with the Makran coastal route. Additionally, steps will be taken to enhance the port city's security, which used to be compromised by rebel warfare.

The development of land and waterways is ongoing, and so is the building of the Gwadar International Airport. It's a massive $230 million project.

Gwadar Cricket Stadium will be a hallmark in attracting tourism and investment in Balochistan. More projects like this should be initiated for further development in the region.
