Gay Marriage

Gay marriage has been there since time immemorial, and it is recorded in some religious books such as Bible in the book of Leviticus, chapter 18, Verse 20. This form of marriage has been facing great resistance from the society.

Gay marriage is a controversial topic people have been debating about for many years in America and other continents. And there are so many statistical analysis essay papers about this issue. There are those who think that gay marriage should be acknowledged in our communities, while others oppose it. People who desire to have men as life partners face discrimination in the society. Some are mistreated, killed, and misjudged. It is important to allow people to do what they want provided they do not interfere with the rights of other persons. No one knows the type of sexual orientation his children or grandchildren will have. Furthermore, apart from societal orientation, there are gay genes which scientists associate with the desires of gay marriage. Although religion is against gay marriage, it should be legalized to avoid dehumanizing and discriminating gays because their situation could have been caused by factors which are beyond their control such as environment, gay gene, and negligence of the parents.

The gay community has been dehumanized in most of the societies despite their struggle for recognition. In some communities, especially in North America, gays are not allowed to air their views freely, and, in some situations, they are massacred (Doan, et al. 1183). Modern society is the most civilized community that has ever been in this world. Nevertheless, there are people who still hold traditions which are passed by time. In the modern society, every person should be allowed to choose the form of marriage he wants without being victimized. It is obvious that all human beings have weaknesses, and we should be lenient to other peoples’ demerits as we expect them to be in our case. Having said so, the people who think gays are weak should stop being judgmental and accept them as part of the community.

Discrimination of gay people is common in some parts of the world. If people want to change the mindset of gay community toward marriage, they should do it in a humane way and avoid discriminating them. Killing gays or denying them a chance to air their grievances will worsen the situation (Bowcott). The community should not desert the gays; instead, they should allow them to learn how they can adopt a new life. If the community continues mistreating them, it will create a more aggressive gay community which may end up causing conflict in the society. The government should be in the forefront to protect gays despite their views toward marriage and urge the community to accept them.

Study has proven that people have gay genes, which is a clear indication that sexual orientation can be partly determined biologically. Apart from genes, sexual orientation is also affected by the environment. Parents and community, in general, could have failed in one way or another to bring up their children. Ironically, the same parents and community which failed to nature the sexual orientation of the child at the tender age reject them when later they turn out to be gays (Cardoso 583). This happens because the parents and community do not want to acknowledge their own mistakes. The existence of gay gene should not be taken to be rumor. If such factor is considered, then the community may understand that being a gay is a fate which a human being cannot control (Hart-Brinson 109). The community should, therefore, stop being ignorant and acknowledge the existence of the gay persons among them.

People who claim to be straight have been opposing the gay marriage basing their arguments on several grounds including religious books. In the Bible, Leviticus Chapter 18, verse 20, it is stated that men who have an intimate relationship with another man has committed abomination and deserve to be killed. They support their argument by the fact that God created Eve who was of opposite sex from that of Adam (Cardoso 573). They view marriage between people of the same sex as evil and against the will of God. Hence, such actions should be highly condemned with all means by the true Christians. The religious people claim that marriage is an institution established by God for the purpose of reproduction. In their view, gay marriage cannot lead to reproduction thus being unnecessary.

The people who are against gay marriage should accommodate diversified views toward marriage because it is normal for human beings to differ. Some may understand it as the institution of procreation while others may take it to be for the sexual pleasure (Doan et al. 1179). Additionally, in case the gay couples need children, they can adopt them. It should be understood that everyone has a right to choose what he wants and be in a relationship with the person who makes him happy (Bowcott). There are people who have been forced into the heterosexual relationship but they are never satisfied. Thus, they end up having a secret relationship with a person of the same sex thus putting the life of the family at danger of contacting sexually transmitted diseases. Every person should be allowed to follow his heart and the question about the legitimacy of gay marriage should not exist because it is their right.

In conclusion, gay marriage should be allowed for proper equality in society. Each individual should be in a position to choose the form of marriage he wants, and his choice should be respected. The community should understand the factors which may make a person become gay and play its part in shaping the behaviors of the children while they are still young. The church should be in the forefront to fight for the gay rights instead of dehumanizing them because by accepting them, it will be easier to change their view toward marriage.
