What are the Steps in Obtaining CE Certification?

The certification process for CEs is not a simple one. It involves a lot of steps and takes a few months to complete.
The first step in obtaining CE certification is to register with the US Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship (OAS). The OAS will then verify your eligibility for the program.
The second step is to find an approved sponsor who will oversee your apprenticeship and provide you with on-the-job training. The third step is to take an exam that will test your knowledge in various areas, such as safety and building regulations, construction math, carpentry, framing and plumbing. After completing these three steps you will be awarded with the Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship (CCA).

What Types of Products Require CE Certification?
There are many different types of products that require CE certification. The most common ones are medical devices, household appliances and toys. CE marking is a mandatory on the European Union for all products that fall under the scope of the Electrical Equipment Directive (2004/108/EC). This directive covers all electrical equipment, including medical devices and household appliances. CE marking is also required for toys and other articles that might be dangerous to children under 3 years old.
Products which fall outside of these categories do not need to have CE marking.
