Parents/Guardian dropping off the child

The unaccompanied minor rules include – 

  • You must have three copies of the JetBlue minor travel consent form
  • The parents or guardian must have their contact details documented on the unaccompanied minor reservation. 
  • The parent/guardian are required to stay at the boarding area until the minor has boarded the plane and the plane has taken off. In the event of a schedule change or a delay, the parent/guardian must remain at the gate until the flight has departed.  
  • The airline ground staff will notify the parent/guardian in case of a gate return so that they can meet the minor. 
  • Parents/guardians are required to obtain a boarding pass at the airport ticket counter.

Parents/Guardian picking up the child

  • As per JetBlue minor policy, the parent or guardian picking up the unaccompanied minor must arrive at the airport 30 minutes before the flight arrival schedule.

JetBlue Minor Travel Guidelines for Codeshare Flights

Here are the unaccompanied minor travel guidelines for connecting flight and codeshare/interline partners – 

  • JetBlue does not allow unaccompanied minors on interline/codeshare flights.
  • Only nonstop flights are permitted for children flying alone. They will not be permitted on connecting flights.
  • JetBlue does not provide escort for unaccompanied minors on flights operated by the other airlines.
  • Passengers are responsible for any unaccompanied minors travelling from JetBlue to any other airlines.

For International Travel

The airline does not offer minors programs for the flights to and from London. Every country requires additional documents, such as a certified letter stating that the unaccompanied kid is allowed to fly alone. Passengers are responsible for understanding the requirements and presenting the relevant papers at the time of travel.

Flying with Adult Passenger

As per the JetBlue unaccompanied minor policy, passengers aged between 2 and 13 years accompanied with the passenger who is 14 years or older would not be considered as an unaccompanied minor. In addition – 

  • If the child will be flying with a passenger on a separate booking, passengers need to call airlines to combine the reservation to ensure that the unaccompanied minor fee is waived.

JetBlue ID Requirements for Minors

The JetBlue unaccompanied minor fee will be available on the airline’s website or by clicking here. It must be filled 3 hours before the scheduled departure. Add to that – 

  • You need to print three copies of the JetBlue minor consent form and bring them to the airport at the time of travel. You need to enter the name of the person as appears on the photo ID or passport of the person checking in and greeting the child at the airport. 

JetBlue ID requirement for minors  at the time of drop off – You must the following documents mentioned below – 

  • Parents/guardians who drop off and greet the unaccompanied minor must present photo identification. Without a photo ID, the JetBlue minor travel would be terminated. 
  • The adult who would be picking up the minor must be at least 18 years of age. They must be listed on the unaccompanied minor form, and must have a valid photo ID, as per JetBlue unaccompanied minor policy. 
  • TSA discretion and security recommendations are used to award gate or escort passes. You need to check the availability on the JetBlue ticket counter at the airport.

JetBlue Age Restrictions for Minors

As per the JetBlue airlines unaccompanied minor rules, there are age restrictions that will apply for the unaccompanied minors at the time of travel such as  – 

Children 4 years and younger – JetBlue minor flying alone program is not available. To travel, a child needs to be accompanied by a passenger at least 18 years of age. 

Children between 5 and 7 years of age – The unaccompanied minor service available for the non-stop flights only. In addition – 

  • The gate escort and guardian/parents contact details required. 
  • Travel is not permitted between 9 pm and 5 am. 

Children between 8 and 14 years of age – The unaccompanied minors service required. In addition – 

  • The gate escort and guardian/parents contact details required. 
  • Travel is not permitted between 9 pm and 5 am. 
  • Travel permitted on non-stop flights only. 
  • Unless there are no other flight options, no connections to the day’s last flight, or layovers of more than 2 hours allowed for travel. 

Children between 15 and 17 years of age – The unaccompanied minors service required. In addition – 

  • The gate escort and guardian/parents contact details may not be required.
  • Passengers can fly alone until parents/guardian’s consider opting for JetBlue minors travelling alone program.
  • Unless there are no other flight options, no connections to the day’s last flight, or layovers of more than 2 hours allowed for travel.

How to Book a Flight for JetBlue Unaccompanied Minor?

Passengers can book the unaccompanied minor travel online, or through the airline’s customer service phone number. 

  • Online – You can prefer to book the flight for your minor online via com, and sign up for the JetBlue airlines unaccompanied minor travel. You would be asked to fill up the unaccompanied minor form. Pay the JetBlue unaccompanied minor fee at the checkout page. 
  • Via Phone– Contact JetBlue or your travel agency to let them know that your child is flying solo. You will be informed about the special services and the processes that must be followed when a youngster travels alone. Please remember to tell the airline if your child has a medical condition. 
  • At the Airport– You can also  sign for JetBlue minor travel unaccompanied up to 2 hours before the scheduled travel, and 3 hours for international travel, subject to availability.
