Blockchain vs distributed ledger technology (DLT) is a decentralized system for managing data but differs in structure. Blockchain organizes data in blocks that are linked chronologically, creating an immutable chain. Distributed ledgers, however, don't necessarily use blocks and can have different consensus mechanisms. Blockchain is a specific form of DLT, known for its transparency and security, while DLT can encompass a wider variety of decentralized data structures beyond blockchain.
