How do I prepare for a Hurricane?

As we head into yet another hurricane season, we need to have portable generators ready for use in the event of a power outage, along with a few other items.

As we move towards yet another Hurricane Season (June 1st through November 30th in the Atlantic) it is most helpful to plan ahead.  In addition to preparing your portable generator for use, there are multiple other items to take care of.  Rather than try to detail all the possible items to prepare, here is a list of web-based resources to help you plan ahead:

For storm tracking try the National Hurricane Center: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/cyclones/

For Power Outage information, try your local utility company or: https://poweroutage.us/

For supply, preparations try: https://www.weather.gov/wrn/hurricane-supplies and ready.gov at: https://www.ready.gov/hurricanes

In many cases, the safest option is to plan to evacuate.  For an overview of possible routes check out: https://flash.org/pdf/2020_Hurricane_Evacuation_Zones.pdf
