In the past, mastic used to be the most common type of sealant used. There were two main types. These two types of sealants were latex and resin based. They were both available in liquid form.
Latex-based sealants were typically mixed with a dry-erase marker and then applied to the surface to be sealed. Resin-based sealants were made from synthetic rubber.
Mastic can be used on a wide variety of surfaces. Examples include interior mastic man walls, exterior walls, window frames, concrete slabs, bathtubs, shower stalls, and shower curtains. The biggest problem with using mastic is that it takes a long time to cure. You could even spend days or weeks doing this.
This is very annoying if you need to seal a bathroom, kitchen or basement that has a sink or toilet in it. Before using mastic, make sure that the area has been thoroughly cleaned.
