The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip, 3941 S.E. 14th St., and was one number off from winning the $229 million jackpot, according to an Iowa Lottery news release. The ticket was one of three in the country to win a prize.
Tuesday’s winning numbers were 1-7-23-38-55 and Mega Ball 2, the release said. No one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, so the prize is now estimated at $254 million annuity or a $133.7 million lump sum for Friday’s drawing.QuikTrip will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the winning ticket at one of its stores, the release said.
After more than six months, another $1 million Mega Millions prize won in Iowa remains unclaimed. That ticket was purchased at The Filling Station/Gateway Expresse, 2400 University Boulevard, in Ames. The winner or winners have until Sept. 6 to claim their winnings.
Prizes of $1 million must be claimed at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive. They are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
